Singapore’s North-South MRT line offers connectivity to the shopping belt along Orchard Road, Somerset, Dhoby Ghaut and City, as well as the Raffles Place CBD area. If you head to these areas pretty often, then you can consider living in close proximity to one of the MRT stations along the North-South MRT line.

1. Newton 

Newton is situated at the intersection between the North-South Line and the Downtown Line, giving you many travel options if you love to explore the island. Newton is situated on the fringes of the city center, right on the edge of Orchard Road. So if you love your weekend retail therapy, Newton is one option you can consider. Another plus point: the renowned Newton Food Centre is where you can indulge in a wide array of local hawker delights. 

2. Novena 

Situated right next to Newton, Novena is a hive of activity with a range of residential, commercial and medical facilities. Novena is also home to the Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and Thomson Medical Centre. 3. Toa Payoh 

Toa Payoh is one of the most established housing estates in Singapore with plenty of amenities. If you want to immerse yourself among the locals, Toa Payoh is where you can do so as it has a strong sense of community and has a rich heritage. The ever-popular Toa Payoh Central is a transport hub and retail hub. You’ll find a lot of shops, markets and hawker centers. If you’re too lazy to cook, you won’t have to go far to get food! 4. Braddell

This serene and peaceful town appeals to nature lovers as it is close to several green lungs. Love hiking? Then head to MacRitchie Reservoir Park over the weekend. With different nature trails, you will have plenty explore in the area. 

5. Bishan 

Situated in the central region of Singapore, Bishan is another large residential area that offers a great quality of life for its residents. The Junction 8 shopping mall, which is right next to the MRT offers convenient living. While the centerpiece of Bishan – the Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park is a sprawling green oasis with plenty of recreational facilities, cycling paths and jogging tracks to keep outdoor enthusiasts happy! 

6. Ang Mo Kio  

Ang Mo Kio is another area that you can consider if you love living like a local. With a lifestyle hub offering plenty of retail outlets, eateries and entertainment options, this is the place to live and play. Supermarkets, markets, hawker centers, eateries and shopping malls – you name it, Ang Mo Kio has everything you need for convenient living. Residents also have access to a public library, community club and town plaza with a wide plethora of activities.
