Situated in the east near Changi Airport, Changi Business Park is home to businesses from the knowledge, high-tech, R&D and logistics sectors. If you’ve relocated to Singapore and are working in Changi Business Park, you’ll want to consider living in a place in the east that’s easily accessible to your workplace.
Expo MRT is the MRT station to alight from if you’re working in Changi Business Park. So do look out for accommodation near stations along the East-West MRT line.
If you’re working in Changi Business Park and looking for a room to rent in the east, here are the areas you can consider:
1. Simei
Simei is the closest area in proximity to Changi Business Park. There are plenty of condos in Simei that are a short bus ride away from Changi Business Park. Expo MRT Station, which is where you need to get off if you’re taking the train, is also only two stops away from Simei MRT Station.
Simei is an ideal place to stay if you’re not a fan of the hustle and bustle of large towns. East Point Mall, which is located next to the Simei MRT station has an NTUC Fair Price for groceries, eateries, Daiso, Popular bookstore, a gym and foot reflexology place, amongst others. Changi General Hospital is also located in Simei. In short, you can meet all your basic needs by living in Simei.
2. Tampines
Tampines is a large township in the east of Singapore and a relatively short commute to Changi Business Park by MRT. If you like having lots of retail and F&B options near where you stay, you can consider renting a room in Tampines town.
Tampines has three malls – Tampines Mall, Century Square and Tampines One. These are are all located near the Tampines MRT Station. Tampines has well-connected transport links and is served by the East-West and Downtown MRT lines. There’s also the Tampines Hub – an integrated facility with lots of F&B options, recreational and leisure activities that can keep you occupied during your free time.
3. Bedok
Bedok is a mature housing estate in the east with a lot of HDBs and some condos. It has that all-round convenience in the form of transport, markets, food and shopping. Looking for tasty and affordable hawker fare? Then head down to the Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre, which is right next to Bedok Mall and opposite the Bedok MRT Station.
You can also consider renting a room in one of the many condos dotted around the Bedok Reservoir area. This area is popular with those who like waterfront living and exercising. There are watersports like kayaking, a track for jogging or cycling around the reservoir, as well as the Forest Adventure obstacle course at the reservoir.
4. Siglap and Bayshore (East Coast)
The vibe in Siglap and Bayshore is very relaxed and totally different from other parts of Singapore such as the west. It’s a very nice area to live in with a mix of locals and expats. To get to Changi Business Park, you’ll need to take a bus. Siglap has a Cold Storage and NTUC Fairprice and has a wide variety of eating places with many different cuisines. East Coast Park is also nearby so you can enjoy long walks along the sea front if you live in this area.
