Weekends are a great way to rest and relax. While some of you may enjoy the interaction aspect of living in a co-living space, occasionally, you’ll also want to find some pockets of “me-time” to recharge.
Here are some ideas of things you can do when you’re alone and wish to chill out in the sanctuary of your rented room in your shared co-living environment.
1. Binge watch a TV series
With plenty of streaming platforms such as Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime, it’s easy to indulge in a movie or TV marathon. Sometimes, you just want to be alone and take your mind off work so what better way than to catch up on your favourite bingeable K-drama or other TV series.
2. Pamper yourself
A self-care routine can be a great way to rejuvenate yourself especially after the end of a stressful week. Use your weekend downtime to pamper yourself. Why not indulge in a DIY spa day – do an in-depth skincare cleansing, pop on a relaxing face mask or grab your manicure kit to paint your nails – all while listening to soothing music.
3. Bullet journaling
Bullet journaling can be a great way to explore your creativity, set goals or declutter your mind. The bullet journal system or “bujo” for short is a visual way of noting down your thoughts, aims and inspiration. It can also help you keep track of tasks and motivate you towards achieving your goals with purpose.
4. Meditate or practice yoga
You can also use your downtime to meditate. Dim the lights and practise deep breathing or meditation techniques to relax your mind and reset yourself. Alternatively, yoga is also a feel-good exercise that has a ton of benefits for both body and mind. Practise some sun salutations or go into a vinyasa flow series to energise yourself. If you are feeling tense, restorative poses will help you to stetch and unwind.
5. Learn something new online
To boost your creativity, you can try learning something new. There are plenty of courses online and you can take your pick from platforms such as Coursera, Udemy or Skillshare. Why not try learning a new hobby such as watercolour painting, crochet, video editing or coding? Alternatively, you can also learn something that will be beneficial for your career.
6. Read
With so many other entertainment options in today’s digital age, many people tend to forget about the joys of reading. Keep your phone, get cozy on your bed and immerse yourself in a page-turning book. Besides fiction, you can also try other genres such as non-fiction or a biography.
Remember, weekends in your co-living space are also an opportunity to recharge. You can choose to spend time exploring Singapore with your flatmates or simply relax in the comforts of your own room. The choice is yours.
